Considering its importance in the economic progress of the country. The sector is likely to get special treatment as seen in the earlier budgets with increased budgetary allocations. With the thrust on building infrastructure the government in the upcoming budget is likely to provide some more tax sops to the sector. The sunset clause of 80IA that expires on March 31, 2011 may get extended further to make the sector attractive. The government is not likely to change the present customs duty for mega power projects as per the wishes of domestic power equipment manufacturers which could adversely impact the cost of the projects. Overall it is expected that the budget is likely to be positive for the sector. One can look at the stock for trading as well as investment purposes.
